I moved permanently, how can I change my closet address?

Go to your Profile Details and from there you can update your closet information by tapping ‘Edit’ in the top right corner. Tap on where your current address is displayed, input your new address, and hit ‘Save Location’. This is now the address that will be linked for your pick-up and drop-off location and will also act as the center market when determining your search region and proximity. Your location is kept private, no other user can see your exact closet location, only proximity.

If you have an active rental in progress, you will be unable to update your address. Please either wait until the rental cycle is complete or you must cancel the rental before you are able to make this update.

I’m going out-of-town, can I hide my closet while I’m away?

Yes! We recommend it! Under your Settings toggle the option for Closet Unavailable on so that all of your items are no longer visible in search.

Please note, if you have already agreed to an upcoming rental contract, turning your closet to unavailable does not remove that future agreement. You will still need to fulfill this rental or cancel if no longer able.

I’m going out-of-town, can someone else manage my closet while I’m gone?

Your closet is your own business- this is your decision. Your bank information and your credit card information are on file. If you trust your friend with your personal belongings and your finances, and they also have access to your closet, then… sure. We definitely don’t recommend it.

The safer alternative if you are out of town and will not be able to rent items out, would be to make all items invisible until you return. To do this, go your Settings and toggle ON the button Closet Unavailable. This feature makes it so that all of your items are no longer visible in search. Please note, if you have already agreed to an upcoming rental contract, turning your closet to unavailable does not remove that future agreement. You will still need to fulfill this rental or cancel if no longer able.

Is there a reason why I shouldn’t hang an item?

The items you hang in your closet should be YOUR items. Do not hang up items that are not yours to hang. Do not hang undergarments and please do not hang items that are damaged and unwearable.

We suggest hanging items that have a  minimum retail price of $200, which would amount to $20/rental period (every 4 days).  Any less than that, renters may be paying more for delivery than the actual cost of the item. However, if your item is rare, like a costume or hard to find item - maybe users would rent regardless of delivery fee.

Also, anything you are too scared to enjoy yourself, please do not hang.  If you are uncomfortable wearing something yourself because it is too expensive or special to you, please do not allow others to rent from you.

Why do I have to be home to get my rented item?

For security reasons, we will not leave items at your door. You must be home to receive the package from the driver. This is to prevent theft, track the receipt, and protect the items of each closet.

Can I just drive to the closet myself?

No. For privacy and safety reasons, all Hangurs’ closet locations are kept private. Nobody will know where the closet lives or when the renter lives.

How can I invite my friends to join?

To invite people to join, tap the menu icon in the top left corner, click on the  “Invite Friends” tab.

Who can see my earnings?

Only you can see the earnings of your own closet, others cannot see this. Under your My Closet, you will have the total accumulated earnings listed on the top margin; this will be helpful when reporting your annual income for tax purposes. We also will email you confirmation receipts with a copy of your invoice transactions. Please keep in mind, this is done as a courtesy and we are not responsible for making sure you report your income. Please speak to your tax advisor.

Can you give me some advice?

Are you hanging? Take good pictures with nice lighting. People want to see what they are renting from you. Ideally, you can take a photo wearing the item (neck down), so they can see the fit. Be reasonable with pricing. Don’t charge more than 10% of what you paid retail- they just want to wear it once. Don’t lie about the condition, color, fit, or designer… people won’t rent from you again.

Also, we don’t recommend hanging up items that will devastate you if they come back damaged or not at all. You need to be comfortable with the list price on liability. For example, you hang your favorite skirt- you paid $300 retail and you rent it out for $30 per rental period of every 4 days, great! It unfortunately comes back damaged and you receive $60 liability money from the renter- yet you still enter a state of depression. Was that worth it? If the liability money doesn’t make you feel whole again, please don’t hang it up.
